Completed Ramp

Through the combined efforts of several of our members, in the form of experienced guidance, financial assistance, and coordination, M.·.E.·. James Douglass is now home.

It’s been approximately five months since Jim’s ordeal started, which included journeys through several medical and nursing facilities.  Through it all his goal was to get home and be afforded the additional options that would provide.  In fact, one of the first things he did upon being sent home was attend a Grotto clam boil!

We would also like to recognize Cherry Construction Corporation of Seekonk, Massachusetts for providing fair rates, quality service, and quick turnaround.  Cherry took the time to understand the situation and worked closely with our High Priest to complete the job on a tight deadline.

It is through the combined efforts of our Companions that good things can happen.  At Saint Mark’s, this is who we are and what we do.

Almost Home

M.·.E.·. James Douglass is almost ready to come home.  He would be there already, it appears, save for one critical issue: he now requires the use of a wheel chair.  All that sits between him and that goal of returning to his Somerset home is the building of a wheelchair ramp.

Jim spoke to E.·. Dustin M. Werstler, High Priest of St. Mark’s, and asked him to install a ramp on his behalf.  To better understand what he was up against, Dustin found  www.wheelchairramp.org which provides instructions, helpful advice, handy resources, and engineering plans.  Dustin then went to Comp. Al Noles for his experienced advice.  Considering the short notice and inherent difficulty in recruiting volunteers, it was quickly decided that a contractor would have to be hired.

Dustin has met local construction companies, at times with Jim’s daughter present, and has been in regular communication with Jim.

One Companion of St. Mark’s who choses to remain anonymous donated $100 towards this costly project.  If you would like to make a donation, please call Dustin at 508-916-1377.

40 Years of Capitular Masonry

E.·. Dustin M. Werstler and E.·. George H. SnowAt our June convocation, E.·. George H. Snow was presented with a 40 year veteran’s pin for his service to capitular Masonry.  The presentation was made by E.·. Dustin M. Werstler, our High Priest.

George will soon be turning 80 and still manages to maintain an active role in his Chapter.  While his obligations prevent him from being one of the main line officers, he often fills in for whatever position we need him for.  He’s even considering a position as Master of one of the Veils.  This is just another example of his long history of service to the Chapter.

In 1974 George first served as High Priest of Harmony Royal Arch Chapter.  In 1993 he again served as High Priest, this time for the merged Old Colony-Harmony Royal Arch Chapter.  He now serves as a Trustee of the Permanent Fund.  Over the years since and in between, he has served in and filled in for numerous stations.  George has a long history of generously dedicating his time and talents for the good of the Chapter and capitular masonry.

Why don’t you come down and thank George for his service and enjoy his company at our next convocation?  You’d be glad you did.
